Well there goes part of my evening for a loop. Just for a kick I typed her name into google and the woman I have dreamed about and thought about finally appeared! Michelle Rawlake Yeah shes married now and likely quite happy and I'm proud of all she has accomplished, but that doesnt mean I have to forget about her. Man she gave me plenty of sleepness nights dreaming of her and wondering what she looked like in the nude. I was so dam shy then but would have done anything to taste her lips and caress her sweet splendor. God she is beautiful! Not just beauty skin deep, but a woman full of life with the kind of laughter that could make anyones heart sing. Oh she could laugh, I have looked high and low for a gal with that kind of sparkle. I'm lucky to have found it once. There she is in all her splendor, my muse, my love never forgotten. The woman who changed my life. I will cherish my memories and thoughts of her forever. I'm not the artist who did these works, I just wish I were the piece of paper. LOL I feel inspired again! Time to get some paintings done! Thank you Michelle...you are amazing!

Well I dont know how often I'll be posting on here, but people have always said its good to just write as many people are interested in what an artist does. Fact is, most days are just boring like many others. Since the breakup I have had many things that have been neglected and many other things I had wanted to do but never had the time. I have always wanted an ability to Zoom into a painting posted online to be able to "see the detail". The problem is most peoples internet connection isnt good enough to download a large file and I didnt want my auction ads to slow down too much. I had worked on a scaling jpeg and was planning on using that, but even that wasnt perfect. Vendio services had a scaling ability but wanted to charge quite a bit for the flash zoom capability. I must have spent the better part of a week learning code and searching the web before finally stumbling upon a flash zoom program I could use. I'll post a sample of it in one of my other posts. I had to find a better web host to house the larger picture sizes and have spent the past 2 days moving my pictures over and editing my ebay ads. What a pain and a lot of work. The good news is its all done and all my ads have been set to the same standard layout design. In fact while searching for zoom code I managed to find a filmloop that does the same thing as what I used to use for my vendio scrolling list of artwork. Its now placed at the bottom of the blog and my ebay ads. The filmloop doesnt work 100% right now because its reading some links to my art from the "old site". It will likely take a week or so to get refreshed to the new site. I bet a lot of people who even take family photos to post online could use this filmloop. I'm burt out from doing all the coding and there is a painting I'm almost finished which I plan to work on this evening. Its 11:40pm saturday...its likely going to be another late night. LOL Oh the painting listed above "lean on me church" is a wonderful church located right along the riverbank of Saskatoon. At nighttime it always stands out and looks fantastic with clock lit up and the fasll leaves and all. I put it up here so people could buy a print. art.com is using my artwork to advertise thier business

Hello Sorsdahl art fans, I just got news that art.com has chosen my artwork to use in its ad! Horay! Art.com is famous for selling art prints. Before ebay seemed to be the only viable area for selling originals too. Well it seems art.com is building a place to better sell original artwork. They had one before but never promoted it because they didnt make anything off of it. I'm looking forward to selling more "original paintings" through art.com. The prints have always sold well, so well that I often wonder why I sell an original painting so cheap. LOL Hopefully the new art.com originals section will help to increase the value of my original art and also gain my me more exposure and customers. Awesome day with this kind of advertising!

Hello Sorsdahl art fans, I havent posted on here for a long time. I guess my life took a left turn. Fell into a depression that I couldnt get out of, which isnt really like me. Normally my engineering mathematical brain always tends to solve my problems and help me to "snap" out of depression. Well, this time that didnt work. It seems even though my analytical side of the brain would tell me the right things to do, the reality was I was still depressed. Vicky visited her old flame in utah and thats when it all started. Seems she has never been able to get over him, I sort of know how she feels because I too have never been able to forget about gal in my past who I'll always hold dear to me. One gal hit me harder then any other and would make my heart skip everytime I was around her and that is Michelle Rawlake. If you were to ask me what this Utah man's name is I couldnt even tell you. Anyways, as usual things didnt work out with her and her Utah man so she came back again. This time I said "no way" I'm not going back to face yet another black Christmas which usually happens when the _______ from Utah comes back to visit his parents and starts this all over again. It was tough to do, but I have decided to get "off this ride" thats been making me sick and move on. Seems her depression from losing the Utah man, has made her head out on other dates. Surprisingly she has started dating an english writer after just a few dates. I'm glad for her that she has moved on and is happy again. My former self of a years back would have never put up with such crap. In fact I'm one to usually end things in such a way they know I dont want them calling. Strange thing is I often still care for them I just dont want to start a long term relationship with a gal that wants to keep moving around from guy to guy. Any gal I have dated in the past that broke things off to date someone else I have never taken back, oh and many have tried to come back. With Vicky I broke my rule and took her back. Then she did it again and I took her back again. Then she did it again and I $#%%$#%$# broke things off no matter how much it hurt me.. As for me, the depression was bad here for a few months. Now my life has changed and I have solitude. Its time for me to pick up the slack and start making something of myself again. Hopefully someday true love will find me again, in the meantime I will have to pursue my goals business wise and further develop my creativity. Thanks to everyone who has supported me and my art.

Hello Sorsdahl art fans, May 30th I was contacted by Disney Studios SALTY PICTURES, INC for the use of one of my paintings as a background in the “HALLOWEENTOWN 4: WITCH U” Our cable television film is the fourth in a series of HALLOWEENTOWN films that are based in a fantasy land call Halloweentown. They are about a place where Halloween is every day, ghost, goblins, warlocks, pumpkinheads, ogres, mummies, etc. are the every day people and they live in a land where they are afraid of real live humans. This story line concerns Marnie Piper, a young witch living in the USA, and her family which have reunited the two worlds. Against her mother’s wishes Marnie attends college at Halloweentown’s Witch U where she hopes to be able to embrace her identity as a witch. College is not what she expected, though--magic is forbidden on campus, her brother Dylan is attending the school, too, and a trio of wicked sisters are making her life miserable. To make matters worse, an ancient prophecy makes Marnie the target of an evil conspiracy and could change the world and her life forever. Marnie has to marshall all her talents and allies to save the day, and in the process she comes to terms with her mother and with who she wants to be. We hope to use “Summer Oasis” Print in head conspirator’s office. Presently there are no dialogue references toward your print and it will be used in the manner for which it is intended.

Prints of this work will be available soon on art.com Ok...I havent painted a more complex surrealism for a long time. Its probably because they take a long time to do. For this work I have been reading the news over the past two years and listening to concepts of "peak oil or hubbards peak". Basically the world is getting to the point where we consume more oil then we can find. For a basic explanation of why I painted what I painted here it goes. The United states consumes about 25% of the worlds yearly oil...so I figured that I would base the work on the US. Dont get me wrong I love the US and all that its achieved and I know its not the only country that uses oil...but America has prospered the most from the use of oil and its ability to multiply its wealth...by doing work and building things. I wanted to incorporate a "hubbards peak curve" into the work and the hand in the air is to symbolize that...where the peak is where trhings start to decline and get harder. We rely so much on our vehicles to get us to work and "run our economy"...so with this painting I wanted monolithic tires set in a desert landscape....basically the tires fallen off a vehicle bleaching in the desert sun. The arm in the air is also symbolic of the drive shaft of a vehicle...how we are now going to have to use manpower to do things if we run out of oil. Its also to symbolize the bloodshed thats going on in Nigeria over oil. So we get a blood stained red and white striped flag...because we need to secure supplies of oil abroad to satisfy our needs. Democracy gets influenced by the need for the black oil. The scene is almost like what you would get looking under a 4x4 and taking a picture...the vehicle is leaking oil and the puddle you see is all that is left. As oil becomes scarce...what was once waste becomes an important commodity. So I wanted to show the people of the future standing in long lines gathering oil inneffieciently using a "silver spoon" from the past and filling jugs that they now have to carry on thier heads as they cant drive vehicles anymore. What was once taken for granted will be in the bleak future done by hand. Our whole world society has been built from the use of cheap oil and those days may be soon coming to an end. . Hello Sorsdahl art fans, Well today I have decided to start on a massive 36x48 work. I'll be making it in my surrealistic landscape style and posting it on Ebay as soon as its completed for $1000USD. Its a waterfall work and I hope it turns out breathtaking....Wish me luck! Just got back from shopping at London Drugs. I swear the makers of Bionaire water humidifiers make a killing selling paper water replacement filters. LOL Seems like a good business to be in, $18 for a filter that lasts a couple of months...pay or we will start dehydrating you! LOL Also checked out some memory cards for my digital camera. A 1 GB flash memory card I can take about 500-1000 photos. 1 card will last me 1 day and the cards run at $140 each. I'm planning a trip to Egypt soon and will likely need 5 memory cards or more. I really could use a laptop just for the trip so I would have ample hard drive to download the pictures to. The fact is, the rest of the time that laptop would just be sitting on a shelf getting obsolete just like wine turning into vinegar. LOL I did see an I-pod with a 20GB drive for $350. It says it has USB 2.0 and for another $40 you can get a USB 2.0 memory card reader. I wonder if that I-pod would be smart enough in recognising that reader, so that I could download a 1GB memory card to it instead? I asked a compter guy there and just got that blank stare like you find when you head to a farmers field and look at cattle. Moo! Thats it. Well better try it sometime and ask if I can return it all if it doesnt work out.

Had a fantastic time this weekend heading up Johnston's Canyon. The route was very icy and I ended up banging my knees and grabbing a tree for dear life on the way up, but the falls were spectacular in the snow. Well worth the pain and effort. The coffee shop at the bottom of the climb was still open that day. They normally close 3 weeks earlier, but because of the warmer then normal weather they were staying open that day. Had a big sale on tourist stuff...sat down for coffee in a cafeteria that looked like it came straight out of the 50's. Well today and yesterday I have been working on a scene from the trip. I'll post the work as soon as its completed. 843

Actually it has an underground water system that effects the flow. When settlers arrived they even tried plugging the hole using mattresses! LOL;

Hello Sorsdahl art fans, I have been working very hard on a commissioned work lately and just finished it. It is huge (3ft x 4 ft) and was inspired by Medicine Lake in Jasper national park. The lake is a natural wonder as the levels of water go up and down even though there are no outlets. The aboriginals thought the lake was sacred and hence the title "Spirits of Medicine Lake". Hi Sorsdahl fans, I just finally had the chance to check my email as I'm visiting Banff. It is pouring rain here right now and I am spending the night in a tent so I hope stay dry. Hiked over 10 km today and say an awesome waterfall (Wapta Waterfall in Yoho National Park if anyone ever gets a chance to visit here)and Emerald Lake which had bear warnings up but thankfully the biggest thing I saw was a squirrel. LOL Off to eat supper and to the soggy tent.

Hello Sorsdahl art fans, Here is my newest work entitled: "Alaska: The destruction of nature by man and oil", 2005 original by SORSDAHL I wanted to do a landscape that also contains surrealistic elements of other things. As I started working on this piece I thought of what a landscape might look at up north. The hot topic up north seems to be the opening up and drilling for oil in a nature refuge. Because this habitat is so fragile a tiny little oil rig can have a huge impact on the whole ecosystem. You will notice in my painting the tiny little oil rig and the effect it is having...I also wanted to show climate change...to make this work look peacefull yet also in movement...like a bathtup plug is being pulled. Personally I think the tar sands in Alberta to be a better long term venture with a lot less risk to the environment (CLL on the www.tsx.com). This is a 36 inch by 24 inch painting again gallery wrapped and painted on the sides. Simply a massive work. This has already sold on Ebay!

Hello Sorsdahl art fans, Well the following painting has an offer for $250. Its called "Dusk Till Dawn III" and you can find the ebay ad with the offer by typing in 7339692054 on ebay.com. The painting style has been popular, in fact I did 2 similar works that each sold for $350. I did the 3rd work as a challenge to build my "toolbelt of talents" and I'm very happy with all the hard work that went into it. Prints of that version have been selling very well. In fact many framed prints have been selling for $150 and there is no way that a reproduction will look as good as the original. I'm asking for $400 for this work to close the deal...do I hear $400 (plus shipping $25 rolled or $40 flat)? I'll be hanging onto this one if it doesnt sell right away and plan to ask for more in the future.

Hello Sorsdahl art fans, I took a look this morning and sales of my prints have really been doing well! Yesterday I cracked over $625 in total print sales in just 1 day alone from art.com. Each month just seems to be growing and growing and this month will blow away the total sales for the last 3 months combined! While I don't make a bulk of those sales, I do get a commission and it does help. The clear winner is still by far the "Summer Oasis" work followed by the "Yellow Tabebuia tree" work, however others are starting to gain ground. Again thanks for all of your support....I hope you enjoy the works in your home or office. Having this kind of response certainly helps to inspire me to focus on starting my next work. Its nice to see all my hard work starting to pay off.

Wow, I have wanted to do an eclectic painting for quite some time, so I finally decided to get one done. It took a long time to complete but I'm quite happy with the work. This is the very first 40inch long by 24inch tall painting I have ever done and to make it even more special I have added a 10inch long by 20 inch tall canvas stacked on top. So its 2 paintings in one! So the total dimensions would be approx 44inches tall by 40 inches long! A perfect work for someone looking for a showcase piece in above your couch or business space. When you walk along the Hoodoo trail you first off are mezmerized by the sheer size of the landscape. The trees and mountains are enourmous! So I figured that what better work to do an "eclectic piece" then one that shows off the true size of the spruce trees.

Hello Sorsdahl Art Fans, Well this work has been sold. It was inspired by a recent trip to Athabasca Falls located in the Jasper National Park in Canada. The Falls are spectacular. You can hike from the top all the way to the bottom. I took a bunch of pictures along the way and composed the painting. At the top where the river begins to "fall" it almost looked like a "cup of water" overspilling and hence the idea for the painting "cup of life". This is a 24 inch by 36 inch painting;

Manitou Beach

This weekend I took some time off to relax. I never really knew before that we have a high mineral spa located only 1 hr away from where I live. The salt content of the water is so high when you get into the deep end your feet literally lift up into the water. There is no way you can sink. In fact standing upright in the water you get this feeling of complete weightlessness, so much so it is easy for your legs to float to the surface so that you are lying on your back. I have never been a great swimmer, so I think that Manitou springs is a great place to go to enjoy the water. There is also a heated side in which you are only supposed to soak for 20 minutes at a time. The water is like a brown ale because of all the minerals. I'm wondering how many places actually have a place like this besides the dead sea area. The lake itself, you can also float on...the water is much clearer, but the salt content is lower. I had a great time suntanning and enjoying the beach.
